How can I get this formula (y-b) / (0-b) = (x-0) / (a-0) rearranged into
x / a + y / b = 1 ?

It can be
x/a + (y-b)/b = 0
or
x/a + y/b - 1 = 0

You can try this way:
(y-b) / (0-b) = (x-0) / (a-0)
(y-b)/(-b) = x/a.
